And it’s simply Inspiration-ale!
But first – the raison d’etre for this blog:
To show the world how great real ale is, and show people how they can do business better.
More about that unexpected interruption later. But first…
It was clearly a bad decision trying to film my elevator pitch – the very first task in a six-week conveyor belt of blogging tasks – at the exact moment someone switched the light off. Or maybe I should have gone with the automatic repurposing of content so it feels like I’ve created a podcast rather than a video because you can barely see me, line.
It’s for your own good, you know. The unlit, moody, slightly Scorsese vlog you just watched. Giggles.
Anyway, I did two things today.
- I plugged Google Analytics in. Again. I’m a pathological theme abuser when it comes to WordPress. This means I have, let’s say diplomatically, undulating set of metrics relating to DaveThackeray.com. Accountability and the ability to follow process isn’t really my strong point. Happily, I can now at least in part understand why for about a week I’ve had no visitors, at least according to GA. Now let’s see things go into mild overdrive…
- I installed my favicon. It’s the little icon that sits next to the name of the site in the tab on your browser. Headway Themes lets me upload the icon (generate one yourself here) and then just drop in a link in the configuration section. It’s simple. And I think I look better at 16 x 16 pixels than in real life, which is definitely a bonus.
If you’re looking for a new theme for your blog, I can’t recommend enough Headway. Neither can a man who knows what he’s talking about. It’s the most flexible and simple way to stamp your personal brand on a blog I have ever seen. It’s a smidge over $80 to use on one site – and will save you tons of time.

Anyway, where was I…
Oh yeah, the elevator pitch!
To show the world how great real ale is, and show people how they can do business better.
I thought long and hard about my elevator pitch and after considerable research discovered noone who does both, in a single blog.
I consider this a USP and am therefore delighted. Obviously.
