Modern media marketing matters

Learning to blog with Savvy Blogging Success

I decided after 15 years in the journalists’ saddle (it’s a communal one – we’re so poorly-paid we could only afford one burro and to be perfectly honest, this alone is one story we so don’t want to share with the RSPCA) that I should learn how to write.

So I picked up a copy of ProBlogger Darren Rowse’s infamous 31 Days to Build a Better Blog workbook.

On my C drive it sat for so many months, gathering stray pixels and bytey cobwebs.

Then Laura from the wonderful WebsByWagner told me of a group where everyone was coming together, cooing in unison over the 31DBBB concept and using it as a way of getting their blogging game on.

And I wanted to be a player.

You’ll know by now I’m not a slave to discipline. I have less focus than a queue of people waiting for the Specsavers sale. Outside the greengrocers next door.

It’s going to be an interesting challenge. The kids at Savvy Blogging Success running this shebang seem bright, canny and organised. Which worries me intensely.

The upside is I might learn how to play the blog game. The downside is coming soon, you’ll be seeing some quite unusual posts. Starting with my elevator pitch. I just don’t know whether ‘mastering mediocrity’ cuts it, but I’ll let you know.

Lisbeth Tanz is running the gig and she’s pretty hot, so I’m hoping that will be the secret sauce that gets me through an epic month of concentration. The only other way I can think of is if I start some homebrew and have a pint a day, at the culmination of each post, to drive me in the right direction (destination cirrhosis).

I believe there’s still time to sign up if you’re quick as ice melting in Arizona. Go here.

Update: Jesus, it’s six weeks! Weekends off, see. Blood, sweat and tears. But you’re worth it, right?
