The first blog to go under the microscope at The Workshop belongs to Alex Parr. Come on down and cast your eyes over her efforts - and build a better blogger!

Today is an exciting day. Which in previous weeks would be an altogether startling proposition. One doesn’t have a particular penchant for the Monday, you see. Red-headed stepchild of Sunday, wrathful brother of Tuesday. Noone has really needed a Monday.

Until now.

Alex Parr needs Monday. And Alex needs you.

For today, my enchanting friends, sees Alex step into the light as her blog goes under the microscope in The Workshop.

The very first episode of The Workshop, in fact.

Whoop!

Alex wants to build her brand. To get better known for her skills as a connector (a human paper clip), networker, founder of Brains-Trust and creator of Mastermind Groups. She’s also a fantastic speaker, as you’ll know if you’ve listened to our podcast on the subject of Mastermind Groups.

Here’s what you need to do:

Read through The Workshop guide so you know what kinda crazy world you’ve just stepped into.

Cast your seeing spheres over Alex’s blog.

Tell us what you think, from your own and from the perspective of Alex’s customer. Stuff you might think about:

What are the blog’s strengths and weaknesses?

How could the layout and design be improved for impact?

Are the calls to action strong enough? How can Alex get more people to interact?

How can Alex concrete her brand using a blog?

How does the blog help to promote her Brains-Trust website – the bread and butter of her online empire.

The first thing I thought when I saw the blog was ‘ahh, Alex, how touching, you’ve gone into the funeral director game.’ Trees through the mist, bridge to ‘the other side’. I was almost compelled to buy an In Memoriam card for some guy who died last week. Mein godt! Pass me the Sellotape to patch up my slit wrists!

The name of the blog needs making more appealing. This is a case of thinking about the customer all over again. And it needs shortening, too.

Content is great, but line-height needs to be given a bit of air.

And a content calendar needs to be worked into the schedule too. Asap! Noone knows when to come back because the posts are so irregular (although more recently it looks like Alex is upping her game).

These are the kinda things we need to know. Together we can build Alex a big plan to make her blog the best.

And then it’s your turn! Want an inspirational makeover of your showcased words on the interwebs? Contact me.

But first, to Alex. Then on Wednesday, we dance, with a complete strategy for change.

Get stuck in, and get commenting!
