Think of everything you’ve done today. What could have been done simpler?
Everything.
We often lose sight of what’s fun about what we do (durrr – doesn’t everything have a joy coefficient?) but so often we trudge and labour through things that would take half the time if it wasn’t for the huffs, puffs and groans that take us down and make us frown.
It starts when you wake up. Do you get up straight away, go for a 10-minute walk, and come back to base feeling refreshed and ready to seize the day?
Breakfast: when was the last time you turned on the style and threw some choc chip brioche in the oven, or made some bread to sit underneath a slathering of Nutella?
Threw open the window when you were seeking inspiration during a tough project?
Held a meeting in a cafe instead of the office?
Took some lunchtime yoga instead of a beer?
Threw someone a smile instead of a curt response when they interrupt you during an antsy moment?
Gave your lover a hug expressing longing, caring and absolute adulation instead of a stolen ‘hi’ as you gaze on to the TV screen?
Lived minimalistically, rather than capital-intensively?
All of us have the power to change each and every thing we do. There’s nothing in this life that can’t be smashed to smithereens, or fixed back up again. So test, fail, test, fail, and succeed, as v 2.0 of you: the happier, smilier, more coveted you? You’ll be glad you took a new look at the world.
